Recruitment leaders define their future at game-changing new event with Deloitte
The three day summit, held at Ettington Park in Oxfordshire, allowed recruitment company leaders to attend a number of interactive workshops facilitated by experts covering the eight core areas that will define future growth in the recruitment sector. These included Creating Shareholder value facilitated by Deloitte’s Human Capital Services lead, Katie Folwell Davies Driving Board Performance with Melissa Reid, Deloitte’s UK Board Advisory Services Lead and Finessing the Finances with Sabine Benz, Deloitte’s UK CFO Programme Director who gave a steer on what questions leaders should be asking their FD in today’s market. There were also sessions on Authentic Leadership, Mergers & Acquisitions, International Expansion and Brand Differentiation.
The feedback from the event – which had a select audience of 30 recruitment leaders – was exceptionally positive. In terms of driving future growth, delegates said they found the content thought provoking and valued the thinking time it gave them out of the business.
“Defining the Future is a pretty daring title, but it completely lived up to its billing,” said John-Paul Toner, Director of Contract Scotland. He continued: “Exercising parts of the brain that aren’t exercised often enough, this event has not only offered personal development, but will materially impact how Contract Scotland grows through the next phase of our evolution. If the value of a course is measured by return on investment, this course may yet prove to be the most valuable I have ever been involved with”. This sentiment was echoed by Christina Langley of Langley Search and Selection: “The event was well planned and executed - it added value in a number of key areas when growing and developing our business”. Similarly, Mark O’Reilly, Managing Director of Astbury Marsden’s Asia Pacific operation, said the event, “provided an excellent forum for senior recruitment executives to learn and share ideas and information across a range of pertinent topics affecting our industry today”. Another delegate from Astbury Marsden, Adam Jackson, who heads up the company’s European arm, said: “Throughout the event, not only did we have access to a diverse range of Deloitte’s UK leadership, but they shared with delegates practical strategies and ideas to tangibly improve their recruitment businesses.”
Speaking after the summit, Ann Swain, Chief Executive of APSCo said: “Our delegates received insight and advice from an outstanding team of global experts. The interactive environment helped develop a bespoke strategic framework for their organisations supported by a practical, business-ready action plan designed to deliver sustainable growth. We knew that it would be popular but we were oversubscribed within a few weeks of announcing the event – we are already planning Defining the Future II.”
