Sugarman Education expands under helm of new managing director
Sugarman Education has over 20 years of experience of education recruitment, ranging from early years and primary school recruitment through to secondary schools, academies and colleges. Until now it has operated mainly in London and the South East, but also has offices in Perth and Sydney, Australia.
The company has been re-structured under the leadership of recently appointed managing director, Eddie Austin, who joined the company in November with over 32 years’ experience in recruitment, particularly in the public sector and education. He has been instrumental in developing a new brand and vision for the company which will see it bringing its strengths in both supply and permanent recruitment from its South East heartland to other areas of the country and develop new consultancy services aimed at schools and colleges.
Core to the future strategy of the company are consultancy initiatives including a leadership recruitment and skills support service and its International schools recruitment offer which responds to the increasing global demand for teachers with knowledge of the UK curriculums.
Since coming on board, Austin has been recruiting a team of experts to add to his already established successful leadership team and to help with the transformation. They include Peter O’Brien, director of education learning and development, who is developing the leadership consultancy initiative and a new regional development manager, Hilary Connelly, who is responsible for developing the network of new offices.
The company will also be involved in a number of high profile sponsorships and thought-leadership events aimed at raising awareness of its brand. The first of these is sponsorship of the Learning Brain Europe Conference which takes place in Manchester on 22nd May, which brings together leading scientists, teachers and school leaders to show how the latest research into the brain can be applied in the classroom.
Eddie Austin, managing director of Sugarman Education, comments, “Candidate resourcing and the development of a market leading technology platform will remain our key drivers for growth, but these are just a part of the overall picture. It’s our vision to provide a wrap-around recruitment and consultancy service so that schools and education professionals have numerous ways to interact with us at each stage of their recruitment journey.”
“Developing into a nationwide player with a global footprint is essential for us to achieve our goal of becoming the number one recruitment consultancy in education. We will continue to strengthen our own workforce by actively seeking out the best and the emerging talent in the recruitment industry.”
