Brightwork Group helps make the garden bloom for children supported by Barnardos Scotland

The big-hearted employees and directors at Brightwork are helping develop a Nature Trail and Tranquil Garden for children and support workers at Barnardo's Scotland in Edinburgh, bringing peace into many troubled lives.

And, in keeping with their commitment to the charity, Brightwork employees are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Any employees in the Edinburgh office who volunteer hands-on help with the landscaping work are being given full pay by the company for all the time they work with the charity.

Already a substantial area of garden has been transformed and the Brightwork Group has contributed a water feature, as part of a Barnardo's Scotland wish list, to create an atmosphere of reflection and calm.

The garden initiative follows a big Brightwork Christmas present last year when employees decided that the most deserving recipients of a Secret Santa were some of Barnardo's Scotland’s most vulnerable children in the country.

Instead of giving presents to each other as the festive season got into its swing, the staff at the fast-growing Glasgow and Edinburgh-based recruiter pooled their gift money raising a splendid &pound350 for Barnardo's Scotland.

Impressed by their efforts, the directors of Brightwork Group played double your money and raised the sum to a heart-warming &pound700.

Brightwork Group chief executive Derek May said: "Our staff are keen to do something positive and constructive for this very worthwhile charity and the garden project has really caught the imagination in our offices."

Barnardo’s Scotland provides more than 122 community-based services throughout the country working with more than 26,500 vulnerable children, young people and their families. It alsoengages with external organisations to bring about positive change for children, young people and families within Scotland.

Jan Forrest, office manager at Barnardo's Scotland in Edinburgh, said: "The Brightwork Group have been steadfast supporters of Barnardo's Scotland and their latest initiative is providing practical help and support which is enormously appreciated."
