Cobalt Recruitments Training Academy boosts overseas growth

The scheme, headed up by Nikki Rawson, Head of Internal Recruitment attracts trainee consultants and researchers for Cobalt’s offices in the UK, Singapore and Auckland.

The Academy comprises an eight week training programme based at the Head Office in Soho, London. With a combination of on the job training from sales managers and group training sessions, the training is designed to develop recruitment skills, deep sector knowledge and sales techniques. On graduating from the academy, the successful trainees undertake a Junior Consultant role in one of Cobalt’s UK or international offices.

Nikki Rawson, head of internal recruitment at Cobalt Recruitment, commented, “Having led three Academies since June 2014, it has been a delight to watch the development of our successful trainees from our previous intakes. Several have grown into ambitious, successful recruiters and have shown real strength of character to make that transition to take a career move overseas. The Academy is going from strength to strength and is a central part of our ambitious growth plans for 2015-2016.”

Robyn Pettit, consultant in Cobalt’s Auckland office commented, “The Cobalt Academy scheme offered a unique opportunity for my first career after graduating. What I found most refreshing was that it wasn’t an empty promise, from the completion of the 8 weeks rotation I was in regular contact with the Director of the New Zealand offices. We spoke about the market and the logistics of making the move so I was fully prepared for when I got out here. Cobalt handled all aspects of my visa application which made life a lot easier. Upon arriving, the team was very welcoming and has played a huge part in my settling into New Zealand. Now I work as a full consultant and the New Zealand market has been very good to me! It is a fantastic part of the world to be in New Zealand is an absolutely stunning country, with a lot of adventures to be had. Definitely a worthwhile career and lifestyle move, I am already applying for residency!"
