Job applications soar in manufacturing
Despite a slight drop in jobs between April and May 2015 (-2.45%), jobs in the industry have still seen a year-on-year rise of 24%, which is great news for the sector.
The rise in applications is encouraging for businesses, resulting in higher volumes of skilled candidates applying for each job. Whilst May 2014 saw an average of 26.2 job applications per role, that figure has increased to 31.3 in May 2015 a rise of 19.75%, which is greater than any other sector last month.
These figures are way ahead of the current average & lsquo;application to job role ratio’ of 16.6:1, which actually dropped nationally by -2.6% last month. Some sectors, such as telecoms, property and retail, saw drops in excess of -20%, with Telecoms businesses receiving an average of just 10 applications for every job.
