UK skills champion battle to be crowned best in the world
Around 1,000 young people from teams across the globe will convene in Brazi from the 11th to 16th August to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in skills ranging from landscape gardening and aircraft maintenance to web design and welding.
The 41 UK team members were selected based on their high skill level, competitive attitude and maturity and have been training for the competition for over two years.
KEY PLANNING DATES
Friday 7 August 2015 – Team UK members convene for send off event in London - fly to São Paulo that evening
Tuesday 11 August 2015 – Opening Ceremony
Wednesday 12 August 2015 – Competition day one
Thursday 13 August 2015 – A Level results day and competition day two
Friday 14 August 2015 – Competition day three
Saturday 15 August 2015 – Competition day four
Sunday 16 August 2015 – Competition day five / Medal presentation & closing ceremony
Wednesday 19 August 2015 – Team UK return to UK flying overnight – back in London early 20 August and then dispersing
Thursday 20 August 2015 – GCSE results day
Carole Stott, chair of Find a Future - which manages the UK’s entry into the international WorldSkills competition - said, “WorldSkills São Paulo is a chance to showcase the UK”s world-class vocational and further education system on a global stage.
