HFG tees off for charity
However, there was nothing that could dampen the golfers’ spirits – not even the sight of Kevin Pietersen with two actuaries on the driving range before proceedings had even started.
After a grand breakfast and a glass of champagne for one golfer (who was later adamant that it had slowed down his swing), the golf was underway. Due to the staggered tee off times, many people started the day off with the charity putting competition giving them an opportunity to test the tricky greens.
Throughout the morning 12 four balls teed off on the East Course with some good early scores being posted. A mixture of wayward tee shots and lightning quick greens were costing some players dearly and at the halfway house there was lots of talk of hacking out of bushes and bunkers. Nonetheless, the general consensus was that it was better than being stuck in the office!
As the afternoon sun appeared and waterproofs were discarded, the standard of golf also began to rise resulting in some great Stableford scores being posted.
The day culminated in some pre dinner drinks on the terrace and following an enormous BBQ style meal, Gavin Southwell from Cooper Gay was the overall winner with 38 points.
£740 for Target Ovarian Cancer by everyone who contributed to the charity putting competition and raffle.
Also, a big thank you goes to the Insurance Insider who kindly sponsored the commemorative photos, providing everyone with a keepsake from the day and also the 1st place prize for the winner of the Individual Stableford competition.
