APSCo members invited to consult with BSI on new kitemark
Over the past year, APSCo has been discussing its initiative with BSI to ascertain the viability of a single, sector-wide standard to cover the whole of the UK recruitment profession. Following discussions with leading stakeholders, the concept has, in principle, the support of leading recruitment associations and over 60 recruitment firms including those from the top 20.
Chaired by APSCo’s CEO Ann Swain, the event – to be hosted by Squire Patton Boggs - will begin with an introduction by BSI representatives Shirley Bailey-Wood MBE and Steve Wilson. The presentation will offer detailed insight into the work they would undertake to create such a standard.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on the proposed standard with stakeholder representatives including Paula Lovitt MBE from the Government Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), Peter Cheese, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Natasha Clarke of SThree and Erica Briody from Novartis.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Ann Swain, CEO of APSCo, said, “I’m incredibly excited that we are able to offer recruitment leaders the opportunity to help shape the future of their profession.”
“We have already received overwhelming support for APSCo to drive and lead this initiative which, of course, we are happy to do – but we need to find out how it would benefit our members’ businesses.”
“This is a fantastic chance to create a meaningful, independent and recognisable recruitment standard that will raise the barrier to entry and help demonstrate to all stakeholders the professionalism throughout the sector. I’m sure our members’ will make the most of this unique opportunity to have their say.”
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 16th September in central London.
