Spencer Ogden on track for 2015 sales of 100m+

Results also reflect an industry shift with the majority of placements being on a contract basis, a reversal on last year. This has seen the company grow its number of contractors by net 500 to just over 900, an increase of 125% from the first half of last year.

The recruiter now operates in energy in 14 offices globally across four continents, with regions including Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas.

Spencer Ogden is also further diversifying and has today announced the launch of four new sector offerings: rail, aerospace and defence, automotive and construction. Spencer Ogden has committed &pound2 million to invest in these new sectors, which will be used for branding, digital investment and new hires.

Further announcements will be made regarding the heads of the new sectors shortly.

The new launches will harness Spencer Ogden’s existing expertise and brand, with an increasing number of candidates moving from the energy sector into engineering and manufacturing.

David Spencer-Percival, CEO, said, “This has not been an easy year for growth. The drop in oil prices has created some serious challenges particularly in upstream markets and permanent placements. This is why our growth has been exceptional in the energy recruitment sector in 2015.

“We have been able to grow thanks to our highly successful diversification strategy, backed up by an immensely talented, adaptable and focused global team who have risen to recent challenges.

“Our new sector launches represent the start of an exciting new era for the company. We remain committed and focused on energy as our core offering but this decision has been driven by demand from both our clients and candidates. The energy market is evolving and more of its workers are looking to career paths in other engineering and manufacturing sectors.”
