Taylor Hopkinson plans to double turnover with increased international operations
The Glasgow-based business has opened a new office in Madrid and has appointed two Spanish nationals to run the operation targeting the wind and solar sectors in Spanish-speaking markets with the provision of mid to senior executives through the project life cycle.
Taylor Hopkinson is being assisted in its growth by North East England-based Ryecroft Glenton Corporate Finance. Partner Carl Swansbury is providing strategic advice as the business aims to increase its international activities.
Launched in 2009, the business is located in inovo, the Scottish Enterprise-funded building within Glasgow’s International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone (ITEREZ), which brings together private companies, academia and support organisations to deliver growth for the renewable energy sectors.
The business operates across three offices and provides core services in executive search, permanent recruitment and contract/interim recruitment for a diverse client base including multinational utilities, independent power producers, private equity funds, consultancies and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Its clients operate in the onshore and offshore wind, solar, hydro, energy storage, biomass and marine energy sectors.
Taylor Hopkinson’s office in London operates its Contracting Division, which forms around 40 percent of its business. The division employs more than 80 contractors in white collar engineering roles on offshore wind projects across Europe and this number is growing continually.
Tom Hopkinson, Managing Director of Taylor Hopkinson, said: “We have been active in Latin America for a couple of years, but the opening of our third office in Madrid, manned by experienced Spanish nationals, will support our ambitions to grow our presence in the market.
“In particular it will allow us to expand the contracting division of our business, which is proving to be very successful. As part of our strategy we intend to implement further expansion in the coming months targeting the United States and Asia Pacific markets.”
Carl Swansbury, Partner at Ryecroft Glenton, said: “Taylor Hopkinson has carved out a strong niche in the clean energy sector, are already proven in international markets and have the potential to replicate this success in other regions around the world. The growth Taylor Hopkinson has enjoyed is testament to the industry knowledge and professionalism of its team along with the solid and sustainable business model it operates.”
