Data Protection No safe harbour for US companies

This comes as a major blow as data sharing between Europe and the US is jeopardised as Safe Harbour ruled invalid on 6th October 2015.

A legal challenge from an Australian law student (Max Schrems) causes chaos after information from Edward Snowden revealed that the US government and the NSA (National Security Agency) were stealing data & intercepting emails as far back as 2013, which the European Court of Justice (ECJ) used as part of the judgement.

"People are just not aware of where their data is held and it could have a major impact on their business," said Mark Bowyer, commercial director of Microdec Plc.
