Festive Fury: 1 in 10 people have resorted to physically shoving fellow Christmas shoppers
For a surprising number of us & lsquo;tis the season to be angry, and while trying to grab a bargain or buy the perfect gift, more than 20% have sworn at fellow shoppers, 10% have pushed or shoved others and 3% have gone a step further and actually hit someone.
The pressures of Christmas shopping are also having a significant impact on our health and wellbeing. While 45% of people say they love the excitement of Christmas shopping, 38% have suffered from anxiety at the thought of it, 20% have lost sleep worrying about it and more than 11% say the stress has made them physically unwell.
Other highlights of the study include:
• Dreaming of a wrinkle-free Christmas?: More than 8% said Botox would be on their dream Christmas list and over 5% would like Santa to bring them a face lift.
• Busy time for pharmacists: More than 25% of people said Christmas shopping causes headaches.
• Stay safe online: A growing number of people say they resort to internet shopping to avoid the chaos, rather than just to find bargains.
The study was conducted by Wisher, in conjunction with OnePulse, where 1000 people were interviewed about their attitudes, experiences and behaviour while Christmas shopping. Wisher is a new app that turns your phone into your own personal gift guide. It allows you to capture, store and share everything you love in one place all year round. It's simple: you spot your perfect gift on a shelf or online, then either scan its barcode or snap it. Wisher will then store it for you, and you can share your list with your friends and family, or they can access it themselves, all year round.
