No news is good news, but watch this space says Nova Contracting

In the wake of this week’s Autumn Statement, there was confirmation that restrictions on travel and subsistence allowances would be implemented as expected in April 2016, but the anticipated detail on changes to IR35 did not emerge.

Nova Contracting Director Marcus Green comments: “Although the Chancellor was very light on detail, all indications are that the industry will get clarification in a fortnight’s time when the draft Finance Bill is published.

“Interestingly, the Treasury Blue Book says that restrictions on travel and subsistence will only apply to personal service companies found to be within IR35. It also says the Government does not want to create disproportionate burdens on business.

“We await the detail, but signals are that there will be a further pause for consideration on IR35 before any changes are implemented and we’re confident that we will continue to be able to provide effective and compliant choices.”
