Norman Broadbents David Bailey to run 2016 London Marathon

With a record total of 247,069 people entering the ballot for the next London Marathon, Bailey secured a charity entry to run the 26.2 miles for KidsOut.

He has previously supported the charity by taking part in the Reigate Half-Marathon, through which Bailey raised &pound320, as well as stepping in at the last minute to run the Royal Parks Half. In addition to increasing the distance run, Bailey hopes the London Marathon will help him raise even larger sums for the charity and achieve his sponsorship target of &pound1,500.

Norman Broadbent is a long-standing supporter of KidsOut, with several staff having been actively involved with the charity, which this year celebrated its 25th anniversary of bringing fun and happiness into the lives of disadvantaged children.

Each year over 20,000 children on average flee domestic violence and seek sanctuary in a women’s aid refuge, with many arriving at refuges with little more than the clothes on their back.  KidsOut provides new toys, fun days out and positive experiences for children, supporting them in becoming future members of our society and workforce.

Bailey commented, “Completing the marathon will be a personal achievement, but more importantly it will allow me to continue raising money for such a special cause. Having spent time with individuals the charity supports, I am fully aware of the difference KidsOut makes to children across the UK, so I am keen to help raise the charity’s profile and donations in any way possible.”

Sandra Doherty, KidsOut Head of Children’s Services, commented, “Sponsored runs are a fantastic way of allowing individuals to take part in sporting events whilst allowing people of all abilities to channel energy into supporting the charity they believe in. The work we do at KidsOut affects thousands of young peoples’ lives in a positive way every day, and we are grateful for every penny raised that supports us in doing so.”
