Randstad announces and endorses EU Pact for Youth
Under this pledge, EU and business leaders will jointly support the delivery of jobs, growth and investment for young people in Europe. Randstad, as one of the co-writers, together with organisations including CSR Europe and the European Commission, drafted this mutual engagement of business and EU leaders.
The Pact for Youth has special endorsement from His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium, Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission and Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament.
François Béharel, member of the executive board of Randstad Holding, participated in a panel of chief executives during the launching ceremony of the Pact for Youth. The ceremony was hosted by Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility.
The Pact for Youth aims to put youth at the forefront, decrease youth unemployment and enhance Europe’s human capital.
Its founders believe these are the main reasons for giving young people the opportunities needed to develop the new skills required for the working world.
They stress this is not only the responsibility of the individual but also of companies, educational institutes, governments and policy makers.
They also believe that the business-education collaboration will help prepare young people for quality jobs, while also decreasing the current skills mismatch.
François Béharel commented, “It is important that young people are equipped with the relevant set of skills that can help increase both their employability and companies [sic] competitiveness.”
