Venturi announced as the Best Company to Work For
The gala dinner, which took place at The Mere golf resort & spa in Knutsford, was attended by the elite of Cheshire’s business community.
The North East Cheshire Business Awards are dedicated to celebrating the success, talent and all that’s good about business in North East Cheshire. There were ten award categories, which were open to entry from businesses across North East Cheshire by both self and third party nominations.
The awards recognise outstanding achievement, leadership and, most importantly, a positive contribution to the success of the local business community. Venturi was shortlisted as a finalist in two categories on the night – “Team of the Year” (Contract Team), which has seen exponential growth in 2015, and “Best Business to Work For”, which is deemed by the event producers as the most prestigious award of the night.
James Timpson OBE, the founder and chief executive of the retailer Timpson, presented the after-dinner speech. Timpson gave a very entertaining, yet insightful, speech on how he has created an environment within his shops, which sees him employ over 3500 staff, with an "upside down management" structure. This was developed to ensure those serving customers are the most important colleagues in the business everyone else is there to help them give amazing service. Coupled with this is a consistency on recruiting only those with amazing personalities, an ethos that Venturi shares with Timpson. The company is protective about its culture, in order to create a business where employees are rewarded and recognised for playing an integral part in the success of the business.
Michael Al-Iskalachi, newly appointed associate director of Venturi, said of the award, “Having joined Venturi in 2010 I have seen the company grow from just 4 people to becoming “The Best Company to Work For”. It is personally a very proud moment for me and a great accolade towards recognising the people who mean the most to us and creating such an amazing environment to work in – our employees. Although most of our business is conducted in London it is great to be regarded as an employer of choice in the Cheshire community where we are deeply rooted.”
Judges praised Venturi for its unique talent training and development programme, its unrivalled commission structure, its impressive CSR policy and creating a positive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and cared for. NEC Business Awards also held the company’s inspiring list of benefits in high esteem, which placed its employees’ wellbeing at the heart of everything the company offers, including free fruit, gym membership, health insurance, financial management and life coaching.
Venturi is known in the Cheshire and Manchester area for providing an unsurpassed working environment and culture. Even with one of the lowest staff turnovers in the industry, the company is still always looking to grow and develop its talent. The end of this year will mark Venturi’s move into larger Cheshire based offices to help facilitate its growth further.
