APSCo appoints new Sector Group chairs

APSCo’s Sector Group meeting programme exists for nine professional recruitment sectors education, engineering, finance, IT, M squared (marketing and creative), pharmaceutical and life sciences, RPO, R2R and social work. They provide senior personnel from member companies with a valuable opportunity to hear the views of industry experts, discuss key topics and issues that are relevant to their sector and network with colleagues in the same sector. The chairs are instrumental in driving agenda content to ensure it remains relevant and topical to their group, which in turn delivers quality meetings with appeal to members. Furthermore, they are influential in ensuring the sense of community and engagement that has become a distinctive feature of APSCo membership.

Yvette Cleland, CEO of clinical professionals, has joined Matt Beedle, team leader at Non-Stop Pharma, as co-chair of the pharma & life sciences Sector Group. Beedle formally introduced Cleland at this group’s last meeting, where Cleland made an immediate positive impact both through the benefit of her experience and contacts. Beedle and Cleland have some exciting plans for 2016 meetings.

Lee Brammer, managing director of Celsian Education, has stepped up to chair the education Sector Group, a position formally held by Eddie Austin, managing director at Sugarman Education. Brammer remains a passionate member of this group and together with his co-chair, Lorna Harvey of The Education Network, looks set to ensure the 2016 agendas continue to tackle a number of the key issues affecting this sector.
Derek Scott, managing director of Project Resource and Ed Stevens, co-founder & managing director of Eximius, have been appointed as co-chairs of the engineering Sector Group. They replace Stephen Rookes, group commercial & legal director at NES Global Talent. Scott and Stevens bring a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and a number of new ideas to build on the good work of Rookes. They are keen to unite the London and Manchester community of this group.

Niomi Cowling, senior marketing executive at Sphere Digital Recruitment, has been appointed as co-chair of the marketing Forum. She will work alongside Anna Gibbons, corporate communications director, Sellick Partnership Limited. Cowling, in her opening speech to the group, demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for both marketing and the recruitment profession. She also has a strong desire to build a real team feel amongst the APSCo Marketing Forum community.

Commenting on the appointments, Gill Hamilton-Orr, HR manager & member services liaison at APSCo, said, “I am delighted to welcome each of our recently appointed sector chairs. They are all experts in their respective fields and I have no doubt that they will add immense value to their individual groups, delivering a level of excellence that our members have come to expect from APSCo meetings. I look forward to embracing their energy and interest to ensure that together we ensure our Sector Group meetings continue to be packed with relevant, appealing content.”
