The research, which was conducted as an online survey, asked workers: “Would you consider working abroad?” The results of the survey can be seen in the chart below.

What are the drivers of people wanting to work abroad?

The largest majority, 30% of respondents, stated that “looking for a new challenge” would be their main motivation for moving abroad for work. This was followed by those stating they wanted a “better quality of life” (22%) and those “seeking an increase in salary” (21%).

6% of respondents stated that they wouldn’t consider working abroad. The two main reasons were: “they are happy where they were at” and “family commitments in the UK stop them moving abroad.”

The online survey was conducted over a three-week period and was completed by 398 people.
