First Recruitment Group directors visit Indian charity
First Recruitment Group directors, Steve Farthing and John Urpi, visited the State of Gujarat, India on 6th January 2016 to see the work supported through the Kamla Foundation charity.
During 2015, First Recruitment Group supported the Kamla Foundation’s work with people on the margins of society in India. One of their key projects has been to partner with a unique medical charity, the Medlife Foundation, based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The charity performs reconstructive surgery, especially for children that suffer from cleft lip / palate and related facial deformities.
Farthing and Urpi made the trip to India to meet the Medlife team, visit their facilities and also to meet some of the patients in their rural villages so that they can see the results and the plight of the poorest patients first hand.
Urpi commented, “We have supported the Kamla Foundation charity for a number of years, working closely with their Chairman, Bhups (Bhupendra Mistry). Bhups has sent us pictures and updates on where the money we have donated has been spent, so when he invited us to see first hand the amazing work they do, me and Steve immediately said yes. It’s awful to think that without surgery, people cannot eat or speak properly, won’t be able to get a job or get married and often have to live in isolation from society. Bhups and his charity work deserves to have this hard work highlighted as much as possible.”
