The SR Group to run “The Crazy 5 in Five”

The SR Group are aiming to complete five half marathon distance runs for Sport Relief and Shooting Star Chase. The Group are calling the event, which takes place in London, “The Crazy 5 in Five”.

In March 2016, over 80 participants will take part in the event, including The SR Group’s CEO, Mark Brewer, some staff members from Shooting Star Chase and some parents of the children from the hospice. Each day, for five consecutive days, they will run 13.1 miles for the two chosen charities, with all money raised being split equally between them.

The challenge has been designed by the company’s director of training, Leila Hudson, who has been offering training to all participants.

Each run will start at 7:15am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning. The Friday run, coinciding with the Sports Relief celebrations, will commence at 2:45pm.

The challenges of the week include:

• Option 1 – run all five days (as a member of the ‘crazy group’)

• Option 2 – run one, two or three days as desired

• Option 3 – run ‘half-a-half’, working with another as a relay team to cover 6.5 miles each

Mark Brewer, CEO, The SR Group, commented, “When I was first approached about this idea, my initial thought was, ‘why on earth would anyone put themselves through this?’ Not being a runner I wasn’t really sure if this was possible or indeed if anyone would be keen to take part; not to mention the practicalities of running 13.1 miles before 9am and then working a full day in the office.

“The thought of running 13.1 miles is still slightly concerning but we’re all getting behind this challenge and hope to raise as much as we can for Shooting Star Chase and Sport Relief, while improving our own fitness levels at the same time.”
