WRS continues UK construction growth

Worldwide Recruitment Solutions (WRS) has appointed Andrew Abbey as construction division head in its construction and civil engineering division.

Abbey will lead the UK division and is tasked with growing WRS’ presence in the sector. He has over 15 years’ experience within construction-focused recruitment, having previously worked with Hill McGlynn, Search and Conduit.

Abbey said of his appointment, “I am delighted to be joining such a customer-focused business and look forward to enhancing WRS’ global success on home soil in a sector that I am extremely passionate about. WRS will continue to focus on delivering permanent and temporary industry professionals to their clients within our established key market sectors of construction, civil engineering and infrastructure & housing by developing a project solution approach in tandem with more traditional recruitment methods.”

Mark Brown, WRS’ managing director, said, “We are delighted to secure Andrew’s appointment – his passion and enthusiasm for the sector is infectious. Construction output in the UK is forecast to grow by 21% by 2019 against a backdrop of skilled labour shortages – we faced similar market conditions in the oil & gas sector and believe that our proven recruitment methodologies will offer WRS a competitive edge over some of our peers in the sector.”
