MiddletonMurray launches work experience campaign

MiddletonMurray launched a campaign to provide work experience opportunities to 16-18 years olds as part of National Apprenticeship Week (14th to 18th March) last week.

It says the “Two Week Challenge” is designed to provide trainees with a platform to gain valuable work experience to enhance their chances of securing a full time apprenticeship, as the Government looks to create 3m apprenticeships by 2020.

The initiative will see the business place all 130 of its trainees into two weeks’ of work experience with local employers across London, Kent and Essex. The company is also encouraging training providers, colleges and employers across the country to work together and join them in establishing two-week work experience placements for trainees within the month of March.

CEO and founder of MiddletonMurray, Angela Middleton, said, “We always have a huge number of youngsters aged 16-18 wanting to undertake an apprenticeship but the reality is that sometimes a lack of any actual work experience can delay their starts. In a bid to raise awareness of the need for more employers to provide work experience opportunities to young people, we are launching the two-week challenge as a call to action to raise awareness that just two weeks can make a huge difference to a young person’s life and career.

“We have approached all the employers that we work with across the South East to help us place all 130 trainees currently on our books, but we don’t want this campaign to be restricted just to our contacts.  We highly encourage employers throughout the UK to take on two apprentices for two weeks to help nurture our next generation of talent with a vital insight into the world of work.”

Lucy Gilmore, HR Director at PHA Media, commented, “As an employer we are a huge believer in giving opportunities to young people and offer an extensive work experience scheme. Many people who have joined our scheme have gone on to secure full times jobs and continued to develop their careers with us –going on to become account directors and even heads of department. We’re delighted to be supporting MiddletonMurray in their campaign and will be taking in two trainees to help give them a taste of the public relations world and provide them with insight into a thriving working office environment.”

Middleton added, “We have approached all the employers that we work with across the South East to help us place all 130 trainees currently on our books, but we don’t want this campaign to be restricted just to our contacts.  We highly encourage employers throughout the UK to take on two apprentices for two weeks to help nurture our next generation of talent with a vital insight into the world of work.”
