Nakama launches in NY

Nakama Group plc has opened a New York office, naming Jane Richardson as managing director of the new business.

The launch of Nakama New York Inc. marks the Group’s launch into North America.

The launch is part of the Group’s strategic global expansion plan with five offices already established in cities across Asia and Europe.

Richardson joins Nakama New York from Aquent, a global recruitment and outsourcing firm, where she was director of Strategic Relationships across the UK.

For over 16 years at Aquent, Richardson built and led a successful team of consultants that serviced both temporary and permanent talent for the digital creative, print and marketing sectors.

Richardson will work closely with Paul Goodship, managing director of Nakama London, to grow a specialist team of recruitment consultants to meet market demand in the US.

Richardson said, “We believe our offering as a specialist digital recruitment firm in the US is unique. Market demand and the opportunity for rolling out our services there, is reflected by our launch and success in already signing up a number of top New York agencies with live roles in the full digital and integrated spectrum.

“Our priority right now to engage with quality local and global talent as the time has never been better for candidates looking for opportunities in the US. We’re seeing all sorts of scenarios play out; ex-pats returning home, local talent looking for their next move along with those who are considering the US as a new location.”

Rob Sheffield, CEO of Nakama Group, commented, “Our investment in this launch phase of our New York business reflects and responds to the strong demand for the specialist digital recruitment services that Nakama Global can provide. Our fast-growing client base and Jane’s strong digital industry experience puts us in an excellent position to continue our growth trajectory in the US."

Goodship added, “Our business across the globe is growing on the back of a thriving digital sector and from this backdrop, the US is revealing a strong appetite for a firm that not only specialises in digital, but one that can also demonstrate a long track record in providing a professional, relationship - focused approach to recruitment. Now, our emphasis and challenge will be on building a team that is in line with that vision. We’re in the best possible position for success with Jane’s experience in growing large teams in international recruitment firms focusing on the digital creative sectors.”
