RI hosts sixth Finance Directors Forum
Yesterday, Recruitment International hosted its Finance Directors Forum at Gateley plc in London.
The event, which was in its sixth year, was attended by finance directors from across the industry.
Steven Raize, corporate partner at Gateley, opened the conference and Kim Collins, relationship director of the recruitment sector at Lloyds Bank, London & South Region was the event’s Chair.
Chris Thompson was the first speaker at the event, who spoke about both sector specific and key value markers that can play a role in business.
Louise Rayner, founder of NumberMill Consulting & NumberMill Accounting, discussed the changes to Travel and Subsistence, as well as the importance of getting good advice when confronting all new legislation.
Keith Boyce, group financial director of Galago, gave a finance director’s view of the sale process, which was based on the sale of Team24 to Capita, when he was the FD.
Adrian Marlowe, managing director of Lawspeed, chairman of Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC), director of Standards in Recruitment (SiR), spoke to the audience about why compliance adds value to your business. He emphasised that compliance is now something that everyone is interested in.
Jess Coles, FCA AMCT, discussed building recruitment company value from a finance perspective. He highlighted the importance of bringing teams together and acting early to make the biggest impact.
John House, finance director at McGinley Support Services Ltd, discussed the differences between a private equity firm and a family business, highlighting both the positives and negatives of both sides.
Nicki Stewart, sales and marketing director at TVision, spoke to the attendees about the differences between front, middle and back office, focussing on how this has changes with technology.
The final speakers at the event were Chris Fanner and Don Brown from Gateley, who discussed the options for funding debt, focussing on ID financial options.
The event offered attendees with several networking opportunities, giving them the chance discuss all the topics raised at the event.
