What skills do employers look for in candidates?
Lucas Blake has conducted a survey to find out what traits in a candidate are desired the most by employers.
The company asked 500 employers and found that competence was the most important quality (38.6%), followed by a strong worth ethic (28.2%). These were closely followed by skills that involved interaction and teamwork; ‘team player’ (27.2%) followed by dependability (23.8%).
Other important qualities included a willingness to learn (21%), honesty (20%), being self-motivated (15.6%), credibility (14%) and being an effective communicator (12%).
The study also shows that individual traits such as competitiveness and ambition are least favorited traits of a potential candidate.
