35% of UK use Twitter for professional services

35% of UK Twitter users use the platform for professional services, according to research by Twitter.


A survey of 2,993 UK Twitter users carried out by Twitter earlier this month showed 35% have used the platform for professional purposes.


Research on UK Twitter users carried out earlier this month showed that 62% of Twitter users said the platform allows them stay in touch with the latest news about the companies they like or that they’re interested in working for. It also showed that:


·         80% of those surveyed said they have read professional or career related information on Twitter

·         One third (31%) of those surveyed have tweeted, retweeted or shared a job advertisement on the platform

·         42% of those surveyed followed a company to stay in touch with their potential opportunities

·         58% felt that seeing how people are talking about a company on Twitter helps them to build a point of view


Brian Lavery, Twitter’s European head of marketing for small and medium sized businesses, said, “With more than 35% of UK Twitter users surveyed using the platform for professional purposes, it’s clear that employers can reach a captive audience of job hunters on Twitter. We’re looking forward to seeing some of the UK’s top employers and agencies take part in the job fair and showcase themselves to top talent.


“What this research has also shown us is that there’s also a great opportunity for people on Twitter to make an impact with potential employers.  


“By doing simple things like paying attention to your bio and photo, and Tweeting about things relevant to your industry, you can make yourself stand out and catch the eye of the company you’ve always wanted to work for.”
