Laurie Dobson of ISV Software passes away

Laurie Dobson, former owner and CEO of ISV Software, passed away on 7th May, aged 69, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Dobson was well known throughout the recruitment industry as the figurehead of ISV Software for many years before the company’s acquisition in 2014. He became involved in the business in the mid-90s before purchasing majority shares in 2004.

Over the years Dobson’s charm, effusive energy and entrepreneurial approach helped establish ISV as a recognised brand and major supplier to the recruitment industry. He easily created connections and relationships that have endured since his departure from the business. Many professional contacts of Dobson’s became firm friends.

Dobson’s background in banking led to him becoming involved in ISV and prior to joining he was proud to be elected as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He was a charismatic leader at ISV, building a small but loyal team to innovate skills testing technology and support the recruitment industry as a whole. His upbeat, no-nonsense approach ensured he made a lasting impact on those he met.

Following his diagnosis in 2013, Dobson looked to wind down his involvement with ISV in order to enjoy a semi-retirement. By October 2014, a full acquisition by Dillistone Group Plc was announced. He continued to work with the team on a consultancy basis until the end of December 2015.

Many people will remember Dobson for his love of sport especially golf and football (and particularly Blackpool FC). He was a networker, creator of opportunities, colleague and friend and leaves a legacy behind in the recruitment industry.

Dobson is survived by his wife, Vanessa, and children Oliver, Charlotte and Tom.

At the end of his life, Dobson was cared for by the team at the Countess Mountbatten Hospice in Southampton. The family request that, instead of flowers, donations are made to this amazing organisation
