Gameweek 37 review

Payet is the MAN in the Fantasy League

Dimitri Payet made all the difference to our league this week. In a nutshell, if you captained Payet, you did well. If you captained anyone else, hard luck. If you Triple Captained him, you did brilliantly. That was it basically in a week when lots of managers filled up with Liverpool players for the DGW only to find that Kloppo has become Tinkerman and many of our choices only ended up with 90 unsatisfactory minutes at The Bridge.

Throughout the season we've been advising managers not to waste their CHIPS, particularly the TC CHIP, on single gameweeks. If there was ever a week to illustrate that advice, it was this one. You still have to make the right choice of captain of course.

Mike Barnard and Alan Furley look pretty safe for a Top 2 place by the close of the season with even Jay Egersdorff, the Red Rum of the FL and the winner of the last two seasons, unlikely to catch them now. Those of you who played last season, may remember Jay coming from 4th place to win by 10 points when he captained Theo Walcott who got a hat trick in his final game. That can't happen again, can it?

In our league, the Top 10 are as follows:

Mike Bernard

Alan Furley

Jay Egersdorff

Marcus Francis

Matt Newman

Andrew Dyson

Neil Kane

Phil Dancey

Richard Hogg

Paul Harron

Don't forget guys. No agency in your team name, no prize. You need to do this next week please or you'll be too late. That's the rule.

Manager of the Week

Paul Harron.......

We haven't seen Paul all season but in past seasons he's always been there or thereabouts. Now he's back with a storming 117 points. Payet as captain, Van Aanholt for 17 points, Defoe, Hazard, KdB, Firmino, Moreno..... it goes on. How on Earth did Paul manage to cram so many previously underperforming players into one team in one gameweek?

Nice to have you back Paul.

Oli Ottey, Goodman Masson......

Wow. Another blast from the past. Oli was leading the whole league for much of last season only to drop away to finish a disappointing 4th. He's now in 58th place and winning this consolation prize. What happened? Who knows but he's done fine this week with 111 points without even captaining Payet and choosing Martial instead for a very nice 36 points.

Oli. Come on. Let us know what happened!

The Best of the Rest

Paul McCarthy......

What's up with the old guard? Last season Paul finished in 6th place and so this is a bit of a come down, but it's better than now't. Payet as captain, Kaboul, Rojo, Moreno, Lanzini, Firmino and Deeney who's had a pretty dreadful run of form added up to make 100 points.

Come on Paul. We want more from you next season!

Taxi for...........

Mesut Ozil.......

The assist king has only hit double figures twice in the second half of the season and is probably injured for the last game. 36% ownership, £9.3m.

Get him binned!

One to watch..........

Kelechi Iheanacho..........

The league's second most in form striker after Aguero comes in at just £4.8m and less than 1% ownership. Although Pellegrini has baffled us all in preferring the useless Bony to "Nacho", his goals per start and his goals per shots on target are just out of this world. He will most probably get a start against Swansea on Sunday. Next season, there's no way that Pep will leave him out.

No Brainer!

Team names please

The reason we ask for your agency name as part of your team name is because it's the only way we can ensure that we are paying the prizes out to the correct managers and that those managers are genuinely in the recruitment industry.

With the latest hacking of our league from semi-professional FL-ers, its even more important. Please help us manage the league better by doing this.

However, those of you who aren't putting in your team names are missing out on some great publicity for your agency and, as recruiters tend to be competitive creatures, isn't it better to beat you rivals in business AND in the fantasy league?
