APSCo to launch disability initiative at events this summer
APSCo is to launch its disability initiative at breakfast events, hosted by EY, in July and August.
Across the UK, in 2016, APSCo will have four regional events of this guide for employers in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
APSCo and Business Disability Forum (BDF) have been working to improve disability diversity action in the recruitment sector and in the world of work. This began with the launch of APSCo’s Best Practice Guide to Disability Confidence for Recruitment Businesses the first guide of its kind in the UK, developed with BDF and kindly sponsored by EY.
The company says the guide aims:
To improve the experience of the recruitment process for candidates/individuals with a disability whether they are hired or engaged directly by an employer or through a recruitment firm.
To support the recruitment supply chain by providing free, expert advice and to create a go to guide to increase confidence and knowledge around disability recruitment.
To help everyone searching for talent to understand the challenges and provide practical solutions.
To remove barriers and to provide increased opportunities for recruitment businesses, candidates and employers.
To promote accessibility to skills within the disabled workforce at a time of a UK skills shortage in many professional sectors.
To give recruitment firms and end clients greater confidence when engaging or employing talent with a disability.
Attendees will hear from leading disability experts, prominent blue chip businesses that are leading the way, recruiters that are changing their practices to be more inclusive and individuals that will share their own experiences in the recruitment process.
All events will start at 9am with breakfast and registration – closing at 11.30am
