Ged Mason announced as EY’s North of England Business Services winner
Ged Mason has been announced as EY’s North of England Business Services winner.
Tuesday’s ceremony, held at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, saw over 45 business innovators from across the North of England compete to become EY’s North of England Entrepreneur of the Year. The north west dominated the awards winning 7 of the 10 categories. Amongst the winners was Morson Group’s CEO Ged Mason who picked up the Business Services accolade.
The only recruitment leader to be nominated for the prestigious awards, Mason and the Morson Group received praise for its commitment to expanding beyond its regional routes. On receiving the award, the host, Business Breakfast presenter, Steph McGovern, commented, “Impressive profit growth and a clear strategy to diversify in order to avoid over-exposure to any one particular sector particularly impressed the judges. Morson is now twice as big as its nearest competitor.”
Stuart Watson, EY’s UK Entrepreneur Of The Year Leader, said, “Entrepreneurs are the bedrock of our economy and it’s vitally important that we continue to celebrate and recognise their successes, and help them to share best practice.
“All of this year’s finalists have developed outstanding businesses by being bold and innovative, capitalising on opportunities as they’ve appeared. These leaders have helped to deliver jobs and wealth in the North of England.
“Entrepreneurs will be amongst the North’s most important assets if it is to truly become a globally competitive ‘powerhouse’. This year’s Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists and winners give me the confidence that we have all the right ingredients for growth across the North. To deliver on this vision in the long-term, we must continue to improve the attractiveness of our region in terms of infrastructure, skills and the ‘can do’ approach demonstrated by so many of these innovative business leaders.”
The Entrepreneur of The Year programme celebrates the accomplishments of entrepreneurs from across the globe, recognising exceptional individuals who can see the future and are helping to reshape it. The programme also identifies those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses.
As a regional final winner Mason, representing his achievements as the CEO of Morson Group, will go on to compete for the title of EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the UK with the opportunity to represent the country at EY’s World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2017.
