IR35 consultation must recognise complexity of employment status, says Nova Contracting
Further consultation on IR35 rules has been welcomed by Nova Contracting, but it says the consultation must recognise the complexity of employment status.
HMRC is consulting on changes to the off-payroll IR35 rules for personal service companies and intermediaries who provide services for public sector organisations. The move follows the publication of a discussion paper last year, which set out a framework for dialogue with business about the legislation.
Nova Contracting director, Marcus Green, said, “The current consultation, which closes on 18 August, addresses IR35 in the public sector, but there is every likelihood that any changes to intermediaries legislation will also eventually be applied to the private sector.
“We’ll be working closely with all interested parties during that consultation process, to ensure compliant outcomes which work for the sector as well as HMRC and recognise the complexity of employment status.
“The essence of temporary workforce is that it fills a particular need at a specific time and recruiters’ requirements change in line with their clients’ demands and the market place. Every business, every contract and every assignment is different.”
