Encore welcomes its first three apprentices

Encore Personnel has taken on three apprentices for the first time to nurture local talent in its Leicester head office.

Encore has recruited three apprentices to date, in the marketing, accounts and HR departments. Plans are already in place to find another apprentice for the head office in Leicester and three more for its regional branches.

Working in partnership with The Training Procurement Company (TPC) the new apprentices will receive high quality training whilst learning on the job at Encore.

The Training Procurement Company provides an unbiased and neutral service to both employers looking to make best use of public funding for the recruitment, training and upskilling of their staff, and to colleges and training providers who are looking for new ways to engage with employers and learners.

Sam Hunt joined the Encore marketing department as an apprentice earlier this year. He said, “I wanted to try something a bit different and this apprenticeship really appealed to me.

“I’ve always been really interested in all things digital but wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do. This apprenticeship has given me lots of experience in a new sector and has helped me build on my existing skill set.”

Accounts apprentice, Abbi Peberdy, joined the team in July after finishing her A-levels. She commented, “My mum is an accountant so I’ve always seen it as a really good career. I think apprenticeships are a great way of gaining experience and learning at the same time.”

Natalie Dawson, finance manager at Encore Personnel, added, “Having apprentices on the team is fantastic; we can train them from the ground up meaning they build a solid foundation in what we do and who we are as a business.

“Identifying skills is the core of what we do, so having the chance to develop our own team and create dedicated, young members of staff is important to prove we practice what we preach.”

Chris Griffiths, director of TPC, said, “Encore is a pleasure to work with and are demonstrating a fantastic commitment to supporting this governments (sic) pledge to create three million apprenticeships.

“TPC will be supporting Encore with all of their training requirements and have partnered with South Leicester College to deliver their programmes in Leicester.

“Apprenticeship programmes are an effective way to both attract and retain talent and I thoroughly recommend them to any person or employer looking to take the plunge.”
