Harrison Sands launches homeworker model
Harrison Sands has launched a homeworker model for its consultants.
The company initially pioneered the homeworker model several years ago in 2011. It has since expanded rapidly and the recruitment consultants that work for Harrisons Sands are offered infrastructure and support that is not widely available with other homeworking recruitment companies. Harrison Sands says it offers training, support, infrastructure and software as well as a competitive salary without any investment required by the consultant. As part of the wider Bluestones Investment Group, consultants also have access to marketing, IT and HR support among other support services.
By launching the homeworker model, Harrison Sands has been able to recruit experienced consultants that now have the ability to balance their personal lives alongside their careers.
Harrison Sands managing director, Katie Coates, said, “Many of our consultants have young children and due to the commitment required to be a successful recruiter, the flexibility of homeworking allows our consultants to work hours that they may not have previously been able to do. We find that our consultants will complete the school run and then start work. They will then continue to work into the evening catching up with candidates when they’re not in the office.”
By introducing the homeworker model, Harrison Sands claims it is pioneering new technology to create a cohesive environment between homeworking consultants and the company. It has live chat functionality, a shared database of candidates and clients and a support structure from Bluestones Investment Group for the everyday office functionality queries such as IT support.
For Coates it was important to create an environment to counteract the perceived loneliness of working from home. She said, “We’re investing in ways to create an environment which allows people to feel as though they’re in an office environment without the constraints of the hours or location. Our consultants use a database that allows them to share leads and candidates. All consultants have a dedicated office phone and access to a live chat function so that they can communicate with management or team members whenever they like.”
