Spencer Ogden places 51st in Houston Business Journal Fast Track 100

Spencer Ogden has been awarded 51st place in the Houston Business Journal (HBJ) Fast Track 100 for 2016, as well as making the shortlist of 10 companies that were listed for the Enterprise Champions Award.

The HBJ Fast Track 100 celebrates the fastest growing private companies based on revenue. In order to qualify for this year’s list, businesses must have closed five full fiscal years by 31st December 2015, be headquartered in the Houston area and have earned at least $1m in revenue in the 2015 financial year.

The end of the 2015 marked Spencer Ogden’s fifth year in the city, making it eligible for the Fast Track 100 for the first time. This was supported by its strong growth and financial results. The firm generated more than $150m worldwide and the Houston office had a revenue of more than $59m in that year alone.

Speaking of the win, David Bumby, Spencer Ogden’s U.S head of operations, said, “This ranking acknowledges our successful growth since launching in the USA five years ago. Our Houston headquarters has grown from start-up phase to a $60 million revenue business that now employs 57 staff. The Houston team has worked hard to deliver these results, and we have had further wins this year, including, placing over of 150 workers into solar-energy projects, winning major projects with construction companies and developing a strong presence in energy private equity markets.”

Spencer Ogden’s U.S growth strategy is well underway and this year the company has further built out four of their existing offices to complement its Houston headquarters.

The Denver office, led by David Dolman is dedicated to the power & renewables, built environment and oil & gas. There are currently 18 staff with plans to grow to between 25-30 employees by mid-2017.

Meanwhile, offices in New York, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando have all at least doubled in headcount in 2016 and are looking towards further growth in the coming years.

Bumby added, “The U.S is a competitive market, but our diversification strategy has meant that, unlike some firms who have had to decrease in size due to being wholly oil and gas based, we’ve been able to grow. We now have seven offices in North America and over 100 employees across the country – this is a significant investment into an important market for us. We expect to see even more growth in the near future.”

Spencer Ogden was also shortlisted for this year’s HBJ Enterprise Champions Award which acknowledges businesses for their outstanding innovation, corporate culture, community service and thriving revenue.
