Think Global Recruitment to raise money for charity in Zambia
Think Global Recruitment is hosting a quiz to raise money for charity Old MacDonald’s Farm in Zambia.
Old MacDonald’s Farm was set up in 2001 by Don MacDonald and his wife Christine. The couple began helping street children, inviting them in every Sunday for a shower, a home cooked meal and to get some clean clothes. Noticing the sheer volume of street children in the local community, they felt something needed to be done to help. Old MacDonald’s Farm was born and has since combined several projects on the same site including a home for vulnerable children, a community school and a teaching farm. Over the years their family have grown rapidly with the addition of more young boys staying with them, and at one point they had 40 extra children. In 2013, the BBC made a documentary about the farm which highlighted just how appreciated the charity has become within the Lusaka community.
After hearing the story Think Global Recruitment felt inspired to adopt Old MacDonald’s Farm as one of its chosen charities.
Peter McLoughlin, marketing assistant at Think Global Recruitment, said, “Don and Christine fund most of the charity themselves, without help from NGOs or government funding, and with only a few other small donors. That why we feel it’s so important for us to support causes like this that make such a huge impact on people’s lives.”
Think Global Recruitment’s Spooktackular Halloween Charity Quiz will be taking place on Friday 28th October, 6.30pm at Lulu’s in Edinburgh. Tickets can be purchased by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
