First IR35 off-payroll solution released by Merit Software
In response to the recent Off-payroll working in the public sector reforms for Personal Service Companies (PSCs), Merit Software has developed an update to its Merit payroll package for recruitment agencies, to allow effective management of this new legislation.
HMRC have recently published technical documentation on the changes and Merit Software says this will leave many recruitment agencies who deal with the public sector worried that their software supplier will not be able to provide a solution to the latest changes in time.
Sam Radion, sales director at Merit Software, said, “There have been some major changes in the legislative landscape for recruitment agencies and the most recent Off-payroll changes for agencies engaging with PSCs in the public sector is going to affect many of our customers.
“We have seen HMRC expecting payroll software suppliers to be able to respond very quickly to new legislation and this has shaped the way we approach our own development process. We are pleased to be the first to market with a solution for the new IR35 reforms, but from speaking to customers in the process of moving to our solution, we know that other providers are struggling to update systems in time. Even something simple like the recent confused release of KC codes by HMRC when their own systems rejected them left many software vendors unable to release patches in time.”
With the new reforms set to be implemented in April, recruitment agencies who deal with the public sector are advised to check with their payroll software vendor whether an update will be in place ready for the new changes.
