Optionis sold to Arkarius

MML Capital Partners (MML) has sold Optionis Holdco Limited (Optionis) to Sovereign owned, Arkarius Group (Arkarius). The sale was advised by Clearwater International.

Trading under its brands Parasol and Clearsky, Optionis is a provider of accountancy and employment services to the UK’s flexible workforce. The company says it focuses on the practical needs of a business, offering intelligent and business-critical solutions, to enable a business to grow. MML invested in Optionis back in 2013. Since then the company has completed five acquisitions and significantly improved its quality of earnings as it shifted focus towards a “Personal Service Company” offering.

Arkarius is a provider of outsourced accounting services including year-end accounts, corporation tax and quarterly VAT calculations.

The Clearwater International team was led by managing partner, Phil Burns, with support from director, John Clarke, and associate, Mark Lawrence.

Richard Mayers, partner at MML, commented, “Having supported management to achieve a leading position in the market we believed now was the right time to return value to our investors. We have no doubt however that Derek (Optionis CEO) and the team will continue to drive significant value as they continue their impressive growth trajectory.”

Phil Burns, managing partner at Clearwater International, said, “MML have helped grow Optionis to become a leader in its field. This transaction provides Arkarius with an umbrella employment solution, enabling it to increase its service offerings and revenue channels.”
