Sellick Partnership’s charity football league kicks off for eighth year running
Sellick Partnership’s Manchester Professionals’ Football League (MPFL) is returning this week for the eighth year running. 24 teams from across Greater Manchester’s business community will be participating in the seven week Football League that will once again be raising funds for local charity St Ann’s Hospice.
Ray Wareing, group director of Sellick Partnership, established the League in 2009 to achieve three goals: To promote football as a sport; to create a networking platform for Manchester business professionals and to raise funds for charity. Over £10,000 has been raised for St Ann’s Hospice since the MPFL began.
The League started on Tuesday 10th January with all future games being played on Tuesday evenings at the Powerleague, in Ardwick. This year’s participants are from some of Manchester’s most prominent organisations, including PwC, NatWest and last year’s winning teams Savills and The Money Advice Group. The company says the league is a fantastic opportunity for the Manchester business community to strengthen professional relationships and build networks in an enjoyable, social environment.
Wareing commented, “I’m extremely excited about the eighth season of the MPFL starting this week. Many of our valued clients are participating and we have some fantastic new teams on board this year too such as Duff & Phelps and Zeus Capital. Combined with some good-natured competition, the League is a great opportunity to meet new people, establish and build relationships across Manchester, as well as raising vital funds for a very worthy cause.
“The league is a fantastic event for all involved – I’m delighted with the amount of teams that have shown their support again this year and as always, the commitment and competitive nature of all involved makes for an exciting tournament – and one which will certainly bring awareness to the tremendous work St Ann’s Hospice carry out within the community.”
