Pure’s charity quiz in Ipswich raises £1,700 for charity, Lighthouse Women’s Aid
Pure hosted its annual Ipswich charity quiz night on Thursday 23rd February, bringing local businesses and clients together for a fun evening which raised over £1,700 for Suffolk charity Lighthouse Women’s Aid.
Travel problems caused by Storm Doris meant that not all the teams were able to make it, but 25 groups of up to five players still took part. These included teams from the Port of Felixstowe, Capita and Notcutts, and there was a lot of friendly rivalry on the night as the teams pitted their wits against each other. The overall quiz winners on the night were a team from Seven who took home champagne for their efforts.
The event, held at the Novotel Hotel in Ipswich, also included a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses including BodyCare Plus, Greene King and Bosch, to help raise further funds.
Paul Sheldrake, manager at Pure’s Ipswich office, said, “We’ve been hosting quiz nights for many years and last night’s event proved to be as fun as ever. We were originally expecting 32 teams and it was such a shame that the weather prevented some people from being able to join us. It was still a fantastic evening and I would I like to thank everyone that attended, donated and contributed to the event. We’re delighted to have been able to raise such a wonderful amount for this amazing charity. I hope everyone can join us again next year and that this time there will be no storms forecast!”
Lighthouse Women’s Aid provides safe and supportive refuge to women and children in Suffolk. The charity has been supporting people experiencing domestic abuse for more than 40 years. Pure has already helped the local charity with members of the Ipswich team volunteering at the centre before Christmas. The volunteering support was provided as part of Pure’s year-long charity campaign to celebrate the Ipswich office’s 10-year anniversary.
The funds raised were secured through the entry fee for each team, with the full amount being donated to the charity, and through the raffle of prizes donated by local organisations. Pure is committed to its charity partners across the region and to date the leading recruitment consultancy business has raised over £119,000. This includes £1,900 raised for Ormiston Families, a charity which provides services to support children and young people in the East of England, at last year’s Ipswich quiz night.
