Ambition hosts Wellbeing Week for employees 2017
Ambition has hosted a wellbeing week for its employees.
The recruitment firm provided a range of free health and wellbeing initiatives during the week of 5th-9th May, including meditation, chair yoga, massages, a football match and a whole company game of rounders.
The week began with a healthy breakfast bar for all employees to enjoy which included fresh fruit from the local fruit market, wholemeal bread, free-range eggs, spinach and avocados. Throughout the week other healthy foods made an appearance, from Greek yogurt to smoked salmon.
A daily bulletin went out each morning to employees, providing them with advice and tips for a healthier lifestyle. Some of the themes that were addressed throughout the week included mental health, lifestyle, good reads, sleep and volunteering.
As well as daily bulletins, each day consisted of a different free activity.
Monday’s wellbeing activity was a lunchtime meditation session in which employees were encouraged to let go of their personal stress and anxieties through mental visualisation. The session proved to be a great success with participants leaving with a sense of calmness and with a better understanding of how to deal with daily pressures. In addition to meditation, each team was given an office plant to communally care for.
Tuesday’s activity was a chair yoga class, hosted by a professional yoga instructor. The aim of the session was to teach staff quick stretches that they could perform at their desk to avoid back pain.
On Wednesday, the team put on their football boots and got active in a friendly game of football after work.
By far the most popular activity of the week was Thursday’s free neck, shoulder and back massages. The massage concentrated on areas that are under strain from daily sitting at desks for long periods of time.
The week concluded with a team bonding activity of rounders in a local park and each person was gifted with an Ambition healthy cookbook, full of easy, cheap and healthy meal ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nicky Acuna Ocana, managing director of Ambition UK, said, “Recruitment can be a stressful career so ensuring our staff have an enjoyable and healthy environment to work in is something we take extremely seriously. This is the third time we have hosted Wellbeing week and we are delighted it went down so well. We made sure that everyone was able to get involved and take advantage of some of the activities on offer, regardless of their level of fitness and ability, and the feedback we have received from our staff has been fantastic.
“Although we host one wellbeing week per year, staying fit and active and working as a team is something that we strongly encourage throughout the year. We often get involved in charity events, fun runs and team football matches and have a daily fruit delivery to the office. All of these activities bring staff together for a common cause and provide a real morale boost and sense of unity which ultimately helps improve productivity and communication across the business.”
