First Recruitment Group celebrates its 20th anniversary
First Recruitment Group is celebrating its 20th year in recruitment.
The company says it is due to hit £850m worth of sales, aiming for that billion pound mark.
Steve Farthing and Andy Cartledge started the company in 1997, originally working in a tiny box room in Farthing’s house, specialising in technical and engineering recruitment. In fact, one of their first clients, Simon Carves, a multi-disciplinary engineering company, is still a client to this day.
Brian Cornah, head of engineering at Simon Carves, said, “It’s great to work with a recruitment agency we trust. The team at First Recruitment Group are friendly and straight talking and they continue to provide an excellent service. We’re proud to still be working with them after 20 years.”
First Recruitment Group historically specialised in technical and engineering recruitment across utilities, oil & gas, power, chemicals and infrastructure sectors, expanding in recent years into FMCG, aerospace & defence and information technology, together with a new division covering back office commercial roles.
This year it is celebrating its 20th anniversary by hosting a staff birthday party along with the unveiling of its Legacy Wall, with a timeline of its history. The company is also running a prize giveaway as a thank you to all its clients and candidates with a winning prize of up to £1500 worth of training or education. The prize can be used to train, learn new skills to progress your career or to pass on to a family member or friend to help them kick-start their own career. You can find and enter the competition on the home page of their website and across social media.
John Urpi, CEO, commented, “I’ve worked with Steve and Andy on a number of occasions since we met nearly 30 years ago, long before they started First Recruitment Group. I’m proud to have been involved and see the company grow to be so successful, diverse and global.
“This year we’re on track to hit £850 million pounds worth of sales, since we opened in 1997 and we have ambitions to hit 1 billion pounds worth of sales in 2018. This is a great time to reflect, thank our staff for their hard work and our clients and candidates for their continued loyalty. We’re a vibrant business, with a family feel and a strong commitment to support our local charities and community. It’s a privilege to be part of the team.”
