Suprise speaker fires up management meeting
This month Thorn Baker held their Annual Manager’s Meeting giving the leadership team an opportunity to come together, review the successes of the previous year and for the launch of the new 3 year business plan. The multi-sector recruitment agency is committed to making the upcoming financial year their best one yet.
The recruitment industry added £35.1Bn to the UK economy last year, which was 9% up on the previous year, demonstrating significant year on year growth. It’s clearly an exciting time to be within the industry. Thorn Baker are aiming for a £50m turnover within the next few years.
A twist to this meeting was the guest speaker who’s attendance was only revealed the week before; Chief Executive of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation Kevin Green.
Kevin’s wealth of knowledge and industry insight ignited the senior team and gave them some inspirational fuel to take back to their teams. Discussing topics including record low unemployment levels, skill, talent and labour shortages to the 4th industrial revolution and how these advances in technology have altered the way we recruit today, and will in the future.
Thorn Baker’s CEO Paul Jackman commented:
"Kevin is hugely knowledgeable and passionate about the Recruitment Industry and we were delighted when he agreed to be a guest speaker for our meeting. The delivery comfortably exceeded our high expectations as he talked the team through a broad range of topics, from demographics in the workforce to the strategic choices that recruitment companies are faced with making. I've rarely seen a room of people so engaged, with Kevin challenging the team on a number of areas such as making the most of the extra £5bn of recruitment spend in the next three years, to which clients we ought to be firing. We couldn't have started our new financial year more fired up!"
