Former White House economic advisor to speak at Freshminds event

The third annual Strat Fest event hosted by Freshminds takes place in Central London on Wednesday 11th October 2017 at the Ham Yard Hotel. The theme for the business strategy event is ‘What’s next?’ in the worlds of economics, politics and technology in 2018 and beyond.

Among the speakers at this year’s event is former economic advisor to President George W. Bush, Dr Philippa Malmgren. She also serves on the Global Strategic Trends Working Group for the British Ministry of Defence and was recently ranked in the Top 20 of the world’s most influential economists and is ranked in the top 10 most influential people in geopolitics. She founded a robotics firm that makes commercial drones and is a bestselling author.

She will be joined by Daniel Franklin, executive editor of The Economist since 2006 and editor since 2003 of The Economist's annual publication, ‘The World in…; Sir John Grant, former representative of the UK to the European Union and former executive vice-president, policy and corporate affairs, BG Group plc, from 2009-2015; and Paul Willmott, Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company.

The event, for senior executives and strategists drawn from FTSE 100 corporates, retail banks, investment companies, private equity firms and consulting firms, brings together leaders and thinkers to look at the year ahead in a series of themed sessions.

James Callander (pictured), managing director at Freshminds, said, “Strat Fest is a rare opportunity for senior figures from leading corporates, high growth companies, investment and consulting firms to hear and learn from some of the brightest strategic minds.

“We are particularly delighted to welcome Dr Malmgren as one of the speakers this year. In addition to serving as Special Assistant to the former President of the United States, George W. Bush, for Economic Policy, Dr Malmgren has recently ranked as 15th most influential Economist in the world, and 5th most influential woman in Finance. She is a great addition to an already impressive line up of speakers.

“The event is unique in that our high-level speakers take an entertaining and engaging look at what economics, politics and technology has in store for us in 2018.

“In doing so, attendees can gain invaluable insight into what lies ahead and use these predictions to create strategies within their own organisations that guard against and overcome some of the challenges ahead.”

Registration is now open, but numbers are limited. Attendees are advised to mark their interest early to secure their place. A video has also been produced to provide an insight into the event and what attendees can expect. You can view this by clicking the following link:
