Russell Taylor chief exec named Business Person of the Year at Wirral Business Awards
One of the biggest accolades at one of the North West’s most prestigious business awards has gone to Ben Russell, chief executive at Russell Taylor Holdings.
Russell was named Business Person of the Year at Wirral Business Awards, taking the title after stiff competition from some of the region’s most exciting and creative entrepreneurs and innovators.
Judges made their decision after basing it on strict criteria relating to someone who had developed and implemented successful business solutions, produced plans to improve cost and energy efficiency, endeavoured to exceed customer expectations and helped raise their organisation's profile.
Under Russell’s leadership, Russell Taylor Holdings has in just over 10 years become the fastest growing - and one of the UK’s biggest - technical recruitment companies.
Earlier this year he steered the business from one set up in a spare room at his home to one controlling seven recruitment companies with a combined £200m turnover, employing 550 staff and with 10,000 temporary workers on their books.
Major acquisitions of other UK recruitment companies were led by Ben to put Russell Taylor Holdings firmly on a global platform. More acquisitions are now in the pipeline with a £250m turnover forecast for 2020.
Accepting his award, Russell paid tribute to staff at Russell Taylor Holdings and said, “Leading the business is probably the easy bit – the hard work is done by every employee of this company. Without their skills and dedication to their jobs and to our customers, the organisation would not be the amazing success it is today.”
