Phaidon International signs sponsorship deal with University of Birmingham Women’s Hockey

This week, Phaidon International announced the group’s latest kit sponsorship deal with the University of Birmingham Women’s Hockey for the 2017/18 season.

As part of the deal, the Phaidon International logo will be featured on the back of playing shirts for both the BUCS Wednesday league, as well as the EHL Investec National Premier Division.

As one of the most successful university hockey clubs in the country, the student-athletes compete at the highest level in both university and national competitions. Five current students (Lily Owsley, Livy Paige, Erica Sanders, Anna Toman and Amy Costello [Scotland]) and four alumni (Sarah Haycroft, Sophie Bray, Emily Defroand and Hannah Martin) also play for Team GB’s Women’s Hockey squad.

Gareth Saunders, global marketing director at Phaidon International, commented, “We are delighted to announce the partnership with such an ambitious and successful club. We strive to partner with the best future talent, and the University of Birmingham is one that stands out for us.”

90% of Phaidon International management started in the business as trainees – including; Jared Butler, now a director in New York, and Jamie Robinson, learning & development manager in London; both of whom are University of Birmingham alumni.

Victoria Rush, marketing executive at Phaidon International, commented, “With an exceptional reputation, the standard at Birmingham is second to none. We have forged this exciting new partnership because we are clearly both founded on exceptional talent and superior results.”

Phaidon International made the decision to support the women’s hockey team, in an on-going commitment to diversity and equality; which supports the business in becoming involved in as many new, exciting and important initiatives, all of which support and promote inclusion and diversity in sport, business and in wider society.

Phil Gooderham, head hockey coach at University of Birmingham, added, “We are absolutely thrilled and delighted to have obtained the partnership deal with Phaidon International. To be associated with such a strong global brand will help the students in their development and this sponsorship will allow me to enhance the support available to the students. The women’s 1st XI is one of the most successful clubs both within Birmingham University, as well as throughout the country; this partnership will enable us to continue the hard work to date and build on our past successes.”

The men’s hockey club will also benefit from the sponsorship; and Phaidon International will also feature on the back of the men’s playing shirts.
