Green Park has appointed Trevor Phillips OBE as chairman of the board of directors. In addition, Jo Sweetland, managing partner of Green Park’s private sector practice, has been appointed to the board.

Phillips steps up to the role of chairman after serving as a non-executive director advising the board since April 2017.  Phillips brings a breadth of strategic business leadership and a proven track record of accomplishments across multiple industries. The founding Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and the first elected chair of the Greater London Authority, Phillips’ expertise in diversity and inclusion complements Green Park’s core business values.

A writer and broadcaster, Phillips is also co-founder of Webber Phillips Ltd and has served as president of the Partnership Council of the John Lewis Partnership. Phillips is currently chair of the New York-based corporate leadership think-tank, The Center for Talent Innovation; and also chair of Index on Censorship. A former ITV executive, he remains active in the creative industries, writing regularly for several national newspapers and serving as a board member of London’s Barbican Centre and of Headlong Theatre. Phillips has been the recipient of several honorary doctorates, an OBE and was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur by the French Government.

New board appointee Sweetland is recognised as one of the leading HR recruitment specialists in the UK and internationally, she will offer a strong voice representing the firm’s practice leaders and employees. Sweetland leads the private sector practice at Green Park, focussing on executive search and interim appointments across numerous industries. An award-winning consultant with nearly 20 years of executive recruitment experience, Sweetland will provide a vital link between the board, executive leadership team and the business as a whole.

Raj Tulsiani, CEO of Green Park, commented, “Green Park is a leading challenger brand that has expanded rapidly, establishing best practice in the recruitment industry for diversity and inclusion. Our ambition is to build on our success to date, adding even greater value to our enterprise and we believe these appointments will help us deliver on this objective. The appointments will ensure we have even greater linkages to key markets, build our external network of influence and strengthen our corporate governance.”
