Your World Healthcare calls for incentives for in-demand specialist nursing candidates
Your World Healthcare has noted a significant increase in demand for specialist nursing roles - at a time when it says no incentive exists to encourage specialisation.
The company has noted an 18% increase in demand for theatre and A&E nurses at the NHS trusts it supplies to across the UK.
Simon Taylor, group managing director for parent company, Your World Recruitment Group, commented, “With all the focus on encouraging candidates into general nursing, it’s the specialist roles which are now most in demand – specifically for theatre and A&E roles. Our concern is that most new graduates completing their training will simply go into general nursing.
Specialist nurses are often drawn to better-paid overseas jobs in the Middle East or Australia/New Zealand, whereas in the UK, general and specialist nurses are often within the same pay grade.
Your World Healthcare says the only clear solution is for the Government to consider incentivising nurses to go into specialist roles.
Taylor added, “We have also witnessed a significant increase in demand for various specialist trained nurses, with the highest demand leaning towards paediatrics, chemotherapy and endoscopy. The demand is evenly spread nationwide and falls across both the NHS and private healthcare sector.”
“I would advise any trainee nurses to consider exploring the mentioned specialties, as they are highly rewarding roles and their choice of work would be second to none, with work available all over the UK.”
