Outsource UK releases second IR35 whitepaper
The new whitepaper, written by Chris Tyler, programme manager at Outsource, is the second paper published by Outsource on this subject. The paper will highlight that, whilst IR35 can be a challenge, it can also foster an opportunity to increase compliance and that by preparing properly, and considering alternative staffing solutions, businesses can continue to benefit from the skills flexible resource can bring.
The document addresses the essential elements that make an assignment either ‘inside’ or ‘outside’ of IR35, provides some useful scenarios for firms to see whether the legislation is relevant to them or not and talks about the benefits of utilising bench resource.
Vicky Roythorne, head of compliance for Outsource UK, commented, “Over the last few years the Government has continued the theme of focusing their efforts to tackle what they perceive as ‘tax avoidance’ and ‘evasion’ within the large proportion of contractors who operate via their own limited companies. There’s been what feels like an endless series of legislation changes, and IR35 is another one of these key regulations.
“In our opinion, whilst this change is undoubtedly a challenge, there is a real opportunity to increase compliance ad consider innovative alternative solutions which still allow UK businesses to benefit from the hugely skilled and talented flexible contractor population.”
