Health Carousel acquires Lucidity
Health Carousel, based in Greater Cincinnati, has acquired Lucidity, a digital platform that connects physicians seeking part time or temporary work directly with medical practices looking to fill open shifts. The technology also uses artificial intelligence to help providers and medical practices make better staffing decisions. Lucidity had previously raised funding from Sustineo Ventures.
Health Carousel CEO, Bill DeVille, said in a news release, “Right now, there is a one size fits all approach to helping physicians find temporary assignments.
“Time is a precious commodity for physicians, and Lucidity has proven that physicians are seeking a seamless digital solution to find temporary assignments.”
Based in Durham, N.C., Lucidity will continue to operate as a standalone company under its own brand after the transaction. The business will join the Health Carousel Locums Network that includes the brands NEXTLocums and Onyx M.D., which Health Carousel acquired in February.
Health Carousel, which was founded in 2004, had 90 employees before going into acquisition mode in 2015. This will be the company’s fifth acquisition. In April, the Business Courier named Health Carousel as a finalist for its Fast 55 awards recognizing the fastest-growing companies in the Tri-State; the company was a Fast 55 winner in 2018.
Health Carousel now has more than 1,700 medical workers under contract at hospitals, outpatient centers, long-term care centers, rehabilitation facilities and home health agencies in all 50 states. Connected to the acquisition, the company is seeking to hire for technology positions in Cincinnati or remotely.
