Hays relaunches benefits offering for UK staff

Hays has redeveloped its benefits offering to UK staff in order to modernise its approach to benefits and reward.

Hays has set out to facilitate a more flexible and agile set of rewards and benefits in order to attract, retain and motivate employees.

Working with external partner, Benefex, Hays built a platform linking directly to its systems which would be accessible to staff on the go, from home or via an app. The platform, MyChoice, coincides with ongoing investment into employee wellbeing across Hays and a new employee engagement tool which has been rolled out globally.

Ahead of the launch, Hays re-aligned its benefits to fit into four new categories of: My Health, My Money, My Life and My Working Environment which form the overall concept of Wellbeing@Hays. The changes aim to help employees think differently about benefits and see their value and focus on different areas of their lives when choosing them.

Trisha Brookes, director of people & culture at Hays UK and Ireland, commented, “Work has changed hugely over the years and traditional benefits packages with a ‘one size fits all’ approach is no longer fit for purpose. We wanted to take on board feedback from our staff about the accessibility of our benefits platform and be much more imaginative in what we can offer.

“As a result, we created our very own employee experience platform which uses innovative technology to make benefits and rewards simple, for both employees and for our HR team.

“The investment into MyChoice matches our current focus in making systems work better for employees. We are constantly innovating and investing in tools, technology and systems to help our greatest asset – our people.”

Launched early in 2019, 86% of employees accessed the platform vs a peer average of just 58%. Hays employees can choose a selection of benefits in an annual window period, as well as a number of benefits that are available all year round including cashback offers, discounts and a season ticket loan offering.

Following the launch, Hays has introduced a new benefit and all Hays employees in the UK and Ireland now have access to up to three private online GP appointments per year via AXA PPP Healthcare’s, Doctor@Hand. The initiative, which compliments the Wellbeing@Hays offering, has had a 50% sign up rate of all UK&I employees with 200 employees having used the service so far.

Brookes concluded, “The usage rates coupled with the feedback we have had so far has been really strong and our rewards team are looking forward to improving our benefits offering even further. Whilst our Wellbeing@Hays offering is available for all employees across the UK&I, we will be launching My Choice to our employees in Ireland in November 2019.”
